Wayne Patton is an experienced asset protection and estate planning attorney who focuses his practice on protecting people and wealth by developing impactful and effective legal strategies. His goal is to limit risk exposure for individuals and businesses who have assets and equity that may be at risk in future lawsuits. Wayne provides a spectrum of services that span the development of sophisticated strategies like limited partnerships and offshore irrevocable trusts to planning that is needed by almost everyone, like drafting Wills, Revocable Trusts, and Power of Attorney documents.
Wayne began his legal career in a major international law firm serving Fortune 500 companies as a corporate attorney. In that role, Wayne focused on structuring transactions so as to provide his clients with maximum protection against downside risk. In 2012, Wayne started his own asset protection law firm, Wayne Patton JD, LLC. Wayne has also worked as an associate lawyer for a board certified estate planning attorney and as the Managing Attorney for a major national asset protection law firm. Wayne applies his knowledge and experience in working with some of the most sophisticated organizations and attorneys in the world to his current practice serving individuals, business owners, and investors as an asset protection and estate planning attorney.
Wayne obtained his law degree in 2004 from Vanderbilt University Law School where he was the Joe C. Davis Scholar of Law & Economics. Wayne graduated near the top of his class from Vanderbilt, served on the prestigious Law Review, and was chosen for Moot Court Board and won the award for Best Appellate Brief for the class of 2004. Wayne also served as an extern clerk for the Delaware Supreme Court, where he gained valuable insight into the processes and underpinnings of one of the most important corporate centers in the world. Wayne obtained his undergraduate degree in finance from Florida State University in 2001.
In addition to practicing exclusively in the areas of asset protection and estate planning, Wayne is a frequent presenter at asset protection conferences. He has authored numerous white papers that have been presented at the American Bar Association, and he has been featured as an asset protection attorney in the New York Times.
