Signed into law on March 18, 2020 and effective April 2, 2020, the Families First Coronavirus Response Act (FFRCA) provides, in part, paid sick leave and expanded leave under the Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA).

The FFRCA applies to private employers with fewer than 500 employees, providing paid sick leave of up to 80 hours for full time employees and provides part-time employees with paid sick leave equal to the number of hours the employee works on average over a 2 week period.

For employees diagnosed with COVIS-19, experiencing symptoms and seeking a diagnosis, or who have symptoms substantially similar to those  exhibited by COVID-19 or who are quarantined are entitled to a maximum of $511 per day or $5,110 in total.

Employees who take sick leave to care for a family member who is sick or quarantined or to take care of a child who is at home  because schools  are closed are entitled to a maximum of $200.00 per day or $2,000.00 in total.
