Background and Experience:

Catherine joined Oppenheim Law as an associate attorney in May of 2015; her practice focuses on real estate and residential foreclosure defense, commercial litigation, and federal litigation.

Upon graduating from St. Thomas University School of Law, Catherine joined the Miami-Dade County Public Defender’s Office as an Assistant Public Defender, where she represented clients from arraignment until verdict. Trying both Jury and Bench Trials for misdemeanor and felony criminal cases, Catherine has experience in all pre-trial and trial matters. Catherine has conducted countless depositions of experts, police enforcement, and civilian witnesses in addition to cross and direct examination of witnesses at jury and non-jury criminal trials. Catherine has also conducted voir-dire and cross-examined expert witnesses at trial.

While at St. Thomas, Catherine served as a staff editor of the Intercultural Human Rights Law Review. Catherine also interned for the Honorable Judge David Haimes of the 17th Judicial Circuit Court and served as a Florida Supreme Court Certified Legal Intern at the Miami-Dade Public Defender’s Office. Catherine was a member of several school organizations including Phi Alpha Delta Law Fraternity, where she served as President during her final year of law school.

Catherine earned her Bachelor of Science in International Affairs with a Concentration in Spanish Language and Literature from Florida State University, where she held several leadership positions in community-oriented organizations. While at Florida State, Catherine founded a community service based Latin sorority – Kappa Delta Chi, and participated in hundreds of hours of community service. Catherine also served as a Corps member of Jumpstart, a National early education program for underprivileged children.

Catherine is fluent in Spanish.
