Oppenheim Pilelsky SUES BROWARD SHERIFF'S OFFICE AND CITY OF WESTON AND DEMANDS PUBLIC INQUEST IN CONNECTION WITH DROWNING- The family of 70-year old Dr. Dario Restrepo, a well-respected public health official and dentist who helped millions of poor people in South America, is suing the Broward Sheriff's Office for negligence in his death. "BSO dropped the ball in investigating the car accident that resulted in Mr. Restrepo's death," said attorney Roy Oppenheim, who's representing the family in the lawsuit. "Mr. Restrepo's drowning death could likely have been avoided had BSO acted in a prudent manner and followed proper protocol."

Oppenheim Pilelsky JOINS FORCES WITH NATIONAL ACCOUNTING FIRM TO TELL FLORIDA SUPREME COURT ABOUT NEW ELECTION HELD IN PALM BEACH COUNTY- The national accounting firm Grant Thornton signed an affidavit today informing the Florida Supreme Court that it can supervise a re-vote for President of the United States in Palm Beach County to be conducted on December 1, 2000 with results certified no later than the next day by 5:00 PM. Grant Thornton says the election would be held through the use of paper ballots, and says it will man each precinct. Only those people who voted in the Presidential contest November 7, 2000 would be eligible to take part in this re-vote. Weston attorney Roy Oppenheim of Oppenheim Pilelsky was assigned the task of refuting all arguments that a re-vote couldn't be accomplished in acceptable time. "We did our job, " said Oppenheim. "Grant Thornton's affidavit proves that a re-vote can be accomplished quickly and fairly."


AS A RESULT OF THE NATIONWIDE RECALL OF MILLIONS OF FIRESTONE TIRES, ROY OPPENHEIM FILES CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT AGAINST BRIDGESTONE/FIRESTONE- As the anxiety builds regarding the nationwide recall of millions of Firestone tires, several South Florida families have filed a class action suit against the tire maker. The lawsuit was filed today in Miami-Dade County Circuit Court by attorneys Roy Oppenheim and Bill McCarty of Oppenheim Pilelsky, and Alan Kluger and Steve Silverman of Kluger Peretz Kaplan & Berlin. The suit asks for emergency "equitable relief" for those persons who have been refused immediate replacement of tires by the tire maker. The lawsuit demands "vouchers" be issued immediately so that the recalled tires can be replaced with suitable tires from any other manufacturer.

The player's friend was badly hurt in the accident and the player offered to pay damages out of his own pocket because the insurance company refused. Avoiding litigation, Mr. Oppenheim persuaded the insurance company to honor the policy.

Oppenheim Pilelsky REPRESENTS 12 BROWARD FAMILIES AGAINST STATE CONSTRUCTION RECOVERY FUND WHEN THEIR DREAM HOMES WERE NEVER BUILT - After collecting $100,000 for a dozen families who lost their home deposits, In May of 1999 Oppenheim Pilelsky sued the Florida State Construction Board for the remaining funds lost after the subdivision's builder walked off with their money.
