Miami Herald Media Clip - toxic mold & insurance disputes

Southwest Ranches OKs residential development

The Deal: In one of Broward County's largest undeveloped land deals, Landmark Custom Ranches and developer Rick Bell won approval from the Southwest Ranches Town Council to develop 138 acres into a luxury residential community. Landmark purchased the land from Bianco Family Ltd. for $4.8 million.

The Lawyers: Roy Oppenheim, a partner in Weston-based Oppenheim Pilelsky, represented Landmark Custom Ranches. Russell Hayson, partner in Pallotto & Hayson of Hollywood, represented Bianco Family Ltd.

The Details: Landmark plans to build up to 50 homes in Southwest Ranches, a rural community south of Weston. The company financed the deal with a $9.65 million construction and acquisition loan from Colonial Bank. Homes in the development, which will include a wetland preserve, will start at $1.4 million.
