Licensing Rights - Florida business law

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Lawyer negotiates for right to use
Wells Fargo name

Dealmaker: Attorney Roy Oppenheim

The Deal: Oppenheim negotiated the deal for World Office Products of Miami Lakes to acquire licensing rights to the Wells Fargo and Wells Fargo Co. names for security products to be manufactured starting later this year. The deal, valued at $45 million to $50 million, was negotiated with Equity Management, a California company that manages the Wells Fargo trademark.

Details: The Miami Lakes company will have exclusive rights to the Wells Fargo name for products that include home and office safes, strong boxes, money counters, money changers, security cameras and monitors. The company also will make door locks, keys and padlocks with the name. The contract calls for the products, which will replace World Office Products’ Remmington line of security products, to be distributed in the U.S., Canada and Mexico.

Background: Oppenheim is a partner at the Weston law firm Oppenheim Pilelsky.
